The Power of Visualizing Your Goals

Have you written out your goals and dreams in a book and set it aside to look back on later? I bet if you are like me you never went back to review it again. Let's change that and put your goals out where you can see them every day! Let's talk about the power of visualization

Put your goals and dreams out to see each and every day! Make your goals and dreams a reality!

"Visualize this thing that you want, see it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blue print, and begin to build." Robert Collier

Last week I attended my first ever vision board event lead by Dawn McGee, owner of Coach Pro 4U. I had been told I needed to create a vision board and had made the decision to create one. Honestly, I was lost on the how to create one and what the heck do you put on it. #powerofvisualization #visionboards #brandphotography

Vision Boards

Before attending Dawn's event (sponsored by Professional Women of Winston-Salem), I had read several different blogs, websites, Pinterest boards, you name it trying to figure out what to do. I thought I had a good general idea of what I should do. But, I have to say none of the items I had previously read described it the way she did. Dawn asked these questions. "What does success look like, feel like and taste like? What does achieving your goals look like, feel like, and taste like?"

It was Dawn's questions that truly brought a visual to mind for my vision board. I finally understood what I was trying to do with a vision board. I was able to create a board to show how my dreams, goals and success should look and feel and yes taste. I used photos I had taken, photos I found in magazines, and quotes that resonated with me and gave me hope and purpose.

I know you have heard of the power of positive thinking right? Vision boards take this a step further. If you create a vision board with intention and purpose you will have created one that will help fuel your fire with you are feeling low and defeated. At the same time a board created with purpose will give you inspiration every day. Your board should remind you of the goals and dreams you are striving for! Your board gives you purpose.

"I came to realize that visualizing, projecting yourself into a successful situation, is the most powerful means there is of achieving personal goals." Leonard Lauder

Visualizing Your Goals

If you haven't ever created a vision board I highly recommend it. Dawn creates a new board at least every six months. She told our group to create a new one every 6 months or at least 1 every year. Dawn shared a story with us about one of her first boards. When she was moving she found an old board stuck under her bed. After pausing to reflect on the vision board she found, she realized that everything she had put on the board had come true! How incredible is that! I have heard the same or similar stories from others as well. That doesn't mean you create your board and set it aside, you have to put the work in to make it happen.

If you are interested in creating your own board and are like me and have no clue where to start here is a link that I found to help you. I must admit I used this before I attended the workshop with Dawn McGee. I hope you find it as useful as I did. Dawn also has a book you can purchase on Amazon "The Young Woman's Guide to Success; Coloring Your Canvas of Life" and she talks about creating a vision board. (Hint - it is about half way through the book)

Remember, once you create your vision board set it somewhere you will see it everyday multiple times if that is possible. This will give you the opportunity to reflect on your goals each time you walk past. I have mine sitting on my dresser in my bedroom. I see it several times getting ready everyday and minimum I see it twice a day. This may not be an ideal place for you, especially if you actually use your dresser mirror.

I am going to be bold and share my vision board with you guys. I am not only putting my goals and dreams out for myself to see, I am going to put them out for all to see. I may not reach my goals in six months or a year, but I will reach them in the near future.

Start creating your vision board today! If you want to join me and be bold share your board with me when you are done. I would love to see it!

Create a vision that makes you wanna jump out of bed in the morning.
